What are the large birds of prey that circle overhead as you drive down the I-35 in Texas?
Anyone any idea? They're large and look dark brown - though it's difficult to tell as they're usually quite high up. Thanks!
A-Best: Definatly turkey vultures.
They are scavengers and eat carrion (dead animals). They spend a good deal of time soaring on thermals and keeping an eye out for a meal. (They don't circle over dead or dying things as Hollywood would have you believe.)
The easiest way to recognize a turkey vulture flying overhead is that when they fly, their wings form a slight "V".
A: I think they must be vultures! They are waiting for you to die our there so they can peck out your eyeballs.
A: They're called buzzards. They're scavengers and eat dead animals.
A: those are just plain old buzzards and they are all over the state of texas and they eat dead animals that are usually killed along the roads
